"The European Commission (EC) encourages innovation and entrepreneurship in Lebanon to support a clean energy transition to combat climate change, as well as a means to address job creation and growth in support of Lebanon's economy.
With CEDRO V, we are to venture on important yet new pathways. We are to create new value chains for biogas, solar and concentrated solar thermal technologies, industrial energy efficiency, and solar PV with advanced storage and/or energy management systems. Furthermore, we are working with the EU Clima-MED project to implement several sustainable energy activities based on municipalities published Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Action Plans (SEACAPS), working on further promoting new policy scheme like Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), and net metering support. We are focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, hoping to support 5 start-ups in Lebanon that will assist the country in its energy transitions. We are to establish an online platform, a hub, that will connect various stakeholders and boost the sustainable energy sector, Moreover, we will be establishing online and face-to-face training and capacity building courses and workshops, enhancing our national capability and belief in the energy transition."
