CEDRO IV aimed to continue the support to the Lebanese Government in order to develop and implement a national sustainable energy strategy and mitigate climate change, in line with the Millennium Development Goal 7 (MDG 7) of achieving environmental sustainability. To achieve this, we continued our piloting and showcasing of renewable energy systems, in specific 5 commercial-scale solar PV systems, a community solar PV installation, a biomass briquetting facility at Bkessine, and a large ground source heat pump project for a hospital. As important, we worked with MEW and the national utility, EDL, to set up an online net metering portal for single net metering scheme and cooperated with EDL to set up a community or virtual net metering scheme. We continued our capacity building and awareness efforts, showcasing to Lebanese stakeholders the technical, economic, and environmental benefits of transitioning to a more sustainable energy future.
