Energy use in the residential sector constitutes a large portion the total national energy use. Although, the electrification rate in Lebanon is high, there is still large portion of the population that lives in energy poverty due to systemic utility blackouts and the high cost of alternative energy sources. The CEDRO projects distributed between 2015-2016 more than 1,000 solar home systems to households that suffer from energy access.

In 2018, a study was conducted to assess the energy appliances in Lebanese households and determined the willingness to pay for more energy efficient appliances focusing on lighting equipment, washing machines, refrigerators and other appliances. The study concluded by stressing on the importance of energy labeling and incentivizing the use of more energy efficient appliances in Lebanese households through policy incentives and other awareness and regulatory mechanisms.
