During the initial phases of the CEDRO UNDP project (2010-2015), the Health sector was one of the main beneficiaries of large solar water heating systems implemented in public hospitals across Lebanon. The project also implemented several small scale (1-3 kWp) off-grid solar PV systems with led-acid battery storage in primary health care centers across Lebanon. In 2015, a 1 MW geothermal heat pump project was implemented in a hospital in the South of Lebanon to provide sustainable space and water heating and cooling.

In 2018, the project implemented five hybrid solar PV-diesel systems ranging from 10-300 kWp in one private hospital, two primary health care centers and two elderly homes.

More recently, the Solar for Health (S4H) project was launched in 2021 and is implementing 10 hybrid solar PV-diesel systems in public hospitals across Lebanon along with identified energy efficiency measures.
