The Karagheusian Association for Children is a non profit organisation located in Bourj Hammoud, northern suburb of Beirut. The organisation runs a variety of programs but fundementally prides itself as a primary health care center. The center used to care for 500-600 patients a month from the local neighboring community of Lebanese citizens. After the eruption of the syrian crisis, Bourj Hammoud welcomed close to 20,000 syrian refugees and the center expanded its capacity to accomodate 4,500 patients a month, 80% of which are syrian refugees. In 2018, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Dutch kingdom implemented a 25 kWp solar PV system that is designed to save the center $3,600 per year in electricity and diesel generator cost. Environmentaly, the system is designed to save 25 tons of CO2 per year.
