The Imam Sadr foundation is a charitable NGO was founded in 1963, currently, it runs a number of educational, health, women empowerment and local development programs. The cultural compound in Tyr, South Lebanon hosts an elementary school, a kindergarten, a special education department, vocational training center and other educational and social services. The majority of the participants in the programs are women with an average share of women participants of 85% in all programs. In 2018, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, implemented a 106 kW solar PV system that is designed to save the institution $21,000 per year on diesel and electricity costs and 114 tons of CO2 per year.
