The street lighting in the city of Batroun, North Lebanon suffers from long hours of blackouts resulting in a sense of insecurity in the area during the night hours. In 2012, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Spanish kingdom replaced 85 inefficient street lighting bulbs with efficient and longer lasting LED lightings bulbs. The total installed capacity sums up to 2.04 kWp and are designed to save the municipality a total of $430 per year on electricity cost and 2.8 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
