The community center in Chmestar is located in the qaza of Baalback, Bekaa Valley and employs 38 permanent staff members. In 2010, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Spanish Government implemented a 1.8 kWp solar PV system with batteries to save $394 per year of electricity cost. The system saves on the environment 2.8 tons of CO2 per year.
