The street lighting in Choueifat, Mount Lebanon suffers from long hours of blackouts resulting in a sense of insecurity in the area during the night hours. In 2012, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Spanish kingdom replaced 35 inefficient street lighting bulbs with efficient and longer lasting LED lightings bulbs. The total installed capacity sums up to 1.05 kWp and are designed to save the municipality a total of $490 per year on electricity cost and 3.2 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
