The first public school in Kherbet Selem is located in the qaza of Bint Jbeil, Nabatieh, South Lebanon. The school employs 15 permanent staff members. In 2010, the school received a 1.125 kWp solar PV system with batteries. The system was implemented by the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Spanish Government and is designed to save the school $246 per year in electricity cost and 1.7 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
