The Kroum El Arab public school is located in Akkar, North Lebanon. The school hosts 71 students per year from the neighboring area and employs 12 staff members. In 2009, the school received a 1.125kWp solar PV system with batteries. The system was implemented by the UNDP CEDRO projects funded by the Spanish Government and is designed to save the school $246 per year in electricity cost and 1.7 tons of CO2 emissions per year. In 2019, the lead-acid battery system was replaced by the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Netherlands Kingdom.
