The public school in Minyara, Akkar, North Lebanon is attended by 279 students per year and employs 24 staff. In 2009, the school received a grant for a 1.8 kWp solar PV system with lead-acid batteries from the Spanish Government. The system was implemented by the UNDP CEDRO team and is designed to save the school $394 per year of electricity cost and 2.8 tons of CO2 emissions per year. In 2019, the lead-acid battery system was replaced by the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Netherlands Kingdom.
