Ouyoun El Samak Public School

The Ouyoun El Samak public school is located in Akkar, North Lebanon. The school is attended by 108 students at all levels and employs 18 staff members. In 2009, the school received a grant for a 1.8 kWp solar PV system with lead-acid batteries from the Spanish Government. The system was implemented by the UNDP CEDRO team and is designed to save the school $394 per year of electricity cost and 2.8 tons of CO2 emissions per year. In 2019, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Netherlands Kingdom replaced the lead-acid battery system and fixed the malfunctioning inverter.
