The public school in Selaata, Batroun, North Lebanon is attended by 40 students per year. In 2011, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Spanish Government implemented a 1.125 kWp solar PV system with lead-acid battery storage. The system is designed to save the school $246 per year in electricity cost and 1.7 tons of CO2 emissions per year. In 2019, the UNDP CEDRO project funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands replaced the lead-acid battery and fixed the malfunctioning charge controller.
